About Us
The Restaurant
Established in 1989.
​
After the Santa Cruz earthquake in 1989, the original 'Malabar' opened downtown in the temporary tents. It then moved into the downtown location (Asian Rose) and also opened the original Malabar Café on Soquel. In 2005, the two restaurants were consolidated into one and moved to the current location on Front Street.

Malabar Restaurant specializes in Asian fusion cuisine and serves unique Malaysian, Indian, and Sri Lankan inspired vegetarian dishes with many vegan and gluten free options available
